I will tell about my work with arduino and a plotter, including the artworks that it creates. Also I might give some glimpses into the work with Recoil Performance Group where I am currently helping to create an interactive scenography for our next performance; Living Room.

The gallery will be serving Gallery Gløgg and “Gallery Made” æbleskiver. I hope to see you in the gallery at 7 PM.

My hacked plotter ‘work in progress’ is doodling away at Mikrogalleriet this november as part of a Black Box Gallery exhibition of multiples alongside works by:

Benjamin Zuber (DE), Eduardo Kac (USA), exonemo (JP), France Cadet (FR), Frieder Nake (DE), Heath Bunting (GB), Tristan Perich (USA), and UBERMORGEN.COM (AT)

The opening is at 5 pm on November 18th at Gormsgade 9, Copenhagen N, Denmark.
The exhibition is open from November 19th to 27, Thursday through Saturday from 1 to 6 PM.

I made the video triptych Inland when Danish Dance Theatre decided to do a rerun of our performance FROST. It was exhibited in the foyer after the show, and received a lot of positive feedback, quite a few members of the audience stayed after the show to watch the installation.

Inland is made from our own footage from a research trip in Greenland for the Longing Fast Forward project.

Yieepee – seems like we are going to have full nights every night in Dansehallerne, Carlsberg for the next week.
Danish Dance Theatre has re-premiered FROST, and Jonas and I have been muddling a bit with the scenography, consisting mainly of our homebrew openFrameworks based software … FROST is now ready for touring – i’m excited to see where it will bring us.

We had a wonderful premiere night with one of the two awesome casts. This was also the night where i had a small vernissage for my video installation ‘Indland’, based on some of the video Annesofie and I shot on our travel to northwestern Greenland last summer. The installation is also promoting our one year project Longing Fast Forward, and is visible in the foyer of Dansehallerne after each nights’ show.

It’s been almost two years since the plotter was out for Christmas, For this edition, I decided against running the software in processing on a laptop. I wanted the plotter to be one unit, so I embedded an Arduino into the plotter and started hacking away. Again, Illutron, was the place to be for a bit of soldering – i got a lot of help from dzl, Christian and Harald.

I also finally got a small video documentation edited, from my Jul Under Vand 2008 tapes, here it is:

unfortunately we had to postpone our trip back to our friends in northwestern greenland, but the reason was good, even happy. annesofie is pregnant with her wonderful boyfriend, daniel – who has joined the project as a sound artist.

finally we had some days together and annesofie norn and I spent them updating longing.gl, and posting some old texts in the blog, putting up videos of our performers, etc.

we have now written and rewritten the texts for the project a dozen times over the last two years, and we think we’re getting better at describing our concepts, ideas and phantasms. hopefully others agree, and hopefully they are sponsors too…

it all started with wondering why we hear so much about animals and melting ice, but so little about the people living with it. the Inuit, who for millennia have inhabited the north. a culture overcoming both nature, vikings and the danes. why don’t we hear more about the modern society who has to tackle climate change, not only in the distant future, but right now?

Hats, Trains & Planes

“Hats, Trains & Planes” is a site specific performance about Luton and it’s industries. We are hoping to work with the Luton Choral Society, and are currently in rehearsals in the DanceDigital studios in Chelmsford.

Our brilliant dancers Owen, Sophia and Lola are creating material with Tina and i am programming the projected scenography, that will work with the concept of moving | travelling & home.

what do you do when your own custom software has a zillion parameters that you want to cue easily, but over midi?
you inherit the standard cocoa controls and make their right click insert cues for themselves in the cueing software via applescript.

when we got it to work, we sent a small clip to our chris, who’s the developer behind qLab, our preferred cueing software.
